Today is a big milestone. This is the 100th blog post I have written and the 6th anniversary of the beginning of this blog. I began the blog on January 15, 2011, through a blog writing class I took at California Genealogical Society, taught by Craig Siulinski. It was something I wanted to do but wasn’t really sure what I would focus on. I finally settled on writing about my grandmother, Pansy Louise Lancaster’s family and this was my first post . In the beginning it was hard to get started. I learned from the Geneabloggers website, that there were blogging memes I could use and I have done that off and on, especially at the beginning. But I finally learned that what worked best was to write about my discoveries as I researched my grandmother’s family. So what have I written in six years? Elizabeth Loveless: Sorting Out 7 in my Tree

How many people with the same name do you have in your tree? I have seven women named Elizabeth Loveless. One is in my direct line, Elizabeth Nixon, who married Jesse Loveless, and the rest are collaterals. However, I need documentation to sort them out, and this post will help me find it. Elizabeth Nixon, who married Jesse Loveless She is my third-great-grandmother, born about 1810 in South Carolina, according to census records. She married Jesse Loveless about 1828 in South Carolina, but there is no marriage record. [1] Possible parents are Abner Nixon and Mary Parthenia Medlock. [2] The first record I have in which she is named is the 1850 Cass County, Georgia, census, with her husband, Jesse, and their children, Terry, James, Roxana, Sophrona, George, Mary, William, Elizabeth, and Jesse. What happens to a woman who has nine children when their husband dies? Either she quickly remarries to have support for her and her children, or she makes do and takes care of herself and children on her own. Sometimes, she has help from family. David Rodgers died sometime after the census enumerator took the information about the 1860 census in June of that year. S. Hankins took the information that David was 42, a farmer, born in South Carolina, and had $450 worth of personal property. He did not own any land. Rebecca, his inferred wife, was 40, also born in South Carolina about 1820. Everyone in the household were reported as being born in South Carolina, even the 1-year-old, George J.
